Villa Allegra is a 17th Century former farmhouse at the foot of Monte Pisano hills, between Lucca and Pisa.  It's a perfect base in Tuscany for combining the excitement of the art cities of Florence, Pisa and Lucca, with rest and relaxation in a country village. At Villa Allegra you can enjoy hill trails, play tennis, relax by the pool, sip crystal-clear water from the spring fountain, and dine at one of the many restaurants nearby serving authentic Tuscan food.

 

Villa Allegra is the former farmhouse and dependence of the family Giovannetti. 

The house and barn were built in 1676 to make olive oil and wine from the family olive and vineyards in Pieve di Compito, a village in the hills 11 km south of Lucca.

Pieve and Sant'Andrea di Compito 's camellias draw crowds of visitors in February and March for the annual international camellia festival hosted by the village of Pieve di Compito.

​

The house and barn are decorated in traditional Tuscan villa-rustic style, with Italian antiques and new beds. Villa Allegra consists of two buildings that are independent of each other, with their own terraces, which share the garden and pool. The garden (3,500m) is quiet, with the constant burble of the stream in the background and shady spots to rest. Idyllic!

 

There is room on the site for several cars and the house is easy to drive to, making for efficient day trips. Florence can be reached within 60 minutes, Pisa and its airport 40 minutes, Lucca 15 minutes, and Siena 90 minutes. Within a 5 minute walk from the house you will find the local tennis courts, the Pizzeria Tre Tigli, two local bars and a village shop with local products.

Villa Allegra is available for private rental. We also offer activity holidays and retreat weeks themed on art, photography, music, yoga, and cooking, combined with  visits to markets, mountain hikes and visits to nearby cultural attractions.​
